Martha Stewart Posts Health Update for ‘Darling’ Family Member After Sudden Problems Required a ‘Rush’ for Medical Care

Martha Stewart says things are looking up for her French bulldog after the poor pup developed a serious eye infection last month.

The expert homemaker took to Instagram early on Thursday, Feb. 6 with a series of snapshots of her “darling” Creme Brûlée with stitches holding her left eyelids shut, explaining that two weeks prior, “her left eye became cloudy and then very discolored and then actually very bloody.”

Stewart “rushed her” to her own vet, who quickly referred the pair to a nearby specialist, who found that the Frenchie “had a deep ulcerated eye infection,” thankfully, with “no tumor.”

The best course of treatment, however, was to remove the dog’s left eye. The doctor “was able to insert an artificial eye ball and stitched up the eye socket,” with her beloved pet getting to go home the same day, where Stewart says she “recovered beautifully.”

“Yesterday the stitches were removed and the operation declared a success !” she celebrated, sending “many thanks” to her personal vet and the specialist and his staff “for doing such a great job with Creme.”

Many fans sympathized with the “sweet sweet soul,” sharing stories about their own pets’ eye problems as they sent Creme wishes for a “speedy recovery” while others asked for the “whole story” and specific diagnoses.

“Maybe your vet can sort out your frenchie’s severe stenosis next? You know so she can breathe?!!” another critical comment read, pointing to brachycephalic breeds’ tendency to have difficulty breathing due to their short and squashed snouts.

Stewart entertained the inquiry, telling the commenter that “creme has absolutely no trouble breathing ! No snoring snortling etc.”

Creme Brûlée is one of a myriad of furry friends residing in the Stewart residence, including, but not limited to, her two newest additions to the familyfellow Frenchie Luna Moona and a Persian cat named Magnolia
