
A dog that attacked and seriously injured a man was an XL Bully, police have confirmed.
Officers were called on Friday afternoon to Ripon Drive in West Bromwich following reports of a dog attack in the back garden of a property.
A wounded man in his 20s was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition, the West Midlands force said.
A 32-year-old man who handed himself in to police on Monday was arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control, and suspicion of possessing a banned breed.
The dog on Friday was Tasered by specialist officers from the force’s dog unit and died at the scene.
Two other dogs seized from an address are in police kennels.
The force said the suspect remained in custody for questioning.
It urged anyone with information to make contact with officers.
