Thrown to the Dogs is a special pre-order only Side Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which can be unlocked during the early game as Naoe within the Izumi Settsu region. The Side Quest sees you looking for an abandoned dog, just outside of Osaka.

How to Start Thrown to the Dogs
The Thrown to the Dogs quest can be found at Tennoji Temple, up a hill in the northwestern corner of the area. It is littered with purple petals on the ground. At the top, you can find a dog, which you can pet to begin the quest.
Follow The Dog
During the cutscene, Naoe observes that the dog belonged to Ichiro and has been in a fight. The dog will then lead her to the next objective, so follow it west. After a short walk, you will come across a Samurai Duelist looking for Ichiro’s dog.
Protect The Dog
He will threaten the dog and mention that he is looking for a key. To continue on, defeat the duelist and his two sidekicks. If there are other enemies around traveling on horseback or by foot, wait until they leave or reload the checkpoint before fighting, as killing the duelist will cause them to become hostile and the number of enemies can be overwhelming.
Follow The Dog
Once all three are defeated, follow the dog again westwards. He will lead you to a small hub of houses where Takako is. She is Ichiro’s brother-in-law and isn’t too fond of his do – because it has the key to Ichiro’s inheritance, which she wants.
Choice: Should You Kill or Spare Takako
You can choose to fight Takako and make her pay for hurting Ichiro’s dog, or threaten her to get her to leave. This choice has no bearing on the quest.
Whether you kill her or not, you will then need to search the group of houses for the key to Ichiro’s inheritance.
Acquire The Key
There are three possible spots where this key can spawn:
The first location is behind the shed in the north-west of this small area surrounding the house. You will need to cut some bamboo to reach it.
The second location is within a crawl space under the building on the eastern side of the area. You can access the building’s crawl space from its rear.
The final spot is inside the building on the western side of the area, next to the doors. It is sitting underneath a hat.
Examine The Gravesite
With the key, Ichiro’s dog will now run back to his grave. Head back to the grave at Tennoji Temple and interact with the box next to the dog.
Naoe will discover a letter from Ichiro, asking whoever finds it to protect Tsuki-Maru, his dog. When the cutscene ends, the quest will complete. Tsuki-Maru will then be available to place in your hideout.
