Zara Tindall’s Strathberry handbag is £545– get her Cheltenham look for from £48

Zara Tindall curated a stunning look at Cheltenham festival sporting a smart pinstripe suit – and we have fallen in love with her burgundy handbag. The daughter of Princess Anne looked timeless and sophisticated as she twinned with her cousin Princess Eugenieand was later spotted cosying up to her husband at the races.

The 43-year-old opted for a sleek colour palette that featured the colour of the season – maroon – as seen on Princess Kate this winter. Zara matched her striking headpiece to her new Strathberry Croc handbag, which is worth £545.

It’s no surprise that Zara is a fan of the Scottish luxury brand as it’s favoured by many royal women, including the Princess of Wales, Meghan Markle and Queen Camilla. King Charles’s III niece is clearly a huge fan of the design as back in 2023 she wore a similar cream version to the Royal Family’s Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

To help you recreate the look, we have found the exact bag Zara wore, as well as some cheaper alternatives from high-street retailers, including an option from Dune London.

Zara owns the Strathberry East/West bag in burgundy. While it comes in multiple colours and finishes, hers is the croc-embossed burgundy version. It has the brand’s distinctive “music bar” closure and a chain strap that can be worn over the shoulder or across the body—Zara has been snapped wearing hers both ways. There’s also a useful chain handle at the top of the bag, so you could tuck the long strap inside and use it as a clutch. Inside, the bag has a zip pouch to tuck away any valuables.

For a similar aesthetic that doesn’t come with the designer price tag, you could try the Ashwood Leather Elegance handbag stocked at Debenhams. The bag features a similar pattern, an also most identical colour match and a long strap. The Debenhams bag is missing the gold chain detailing, but for £45 we don’t think you can go wrong with this!

If it’s a sleek burgundy bag you’re after that will carry you from day to night then try this option from The Leather Company. Unlike Zara’s this has a smooth texture but has a similar stunning chain strap and gold detailing with a statement clasp. You can also buy this in a black version that features a zebra print.

The Tallulah design is another purse-friendly alternative, is made from leather and features a diamond quilted pattern with an envelope closure. It closes with a push lock gold clasp. The bag also comes in a black and beige version – which is similar to a Fendi design Camilla wore to Cheltenham earlier this week.

If you want a bolder piece to add to your handbag collection at a slightly lower price point, then this design by Dune London is ideal. The Dinky Deliberate bag features a statement “grab handle” and a woven print – it also has a sleek detachable gold strap. We love the selection of alternative colours, including the vibrant orange option.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
