A team of sled dogs from TUN-DRA KENNELS is giving people the opportunity to meet their dogs up close and learn more about them.
ROCKFORD, Mich. — As a light snow fell on the parking lot of the Kent District Library’s Krause Memorial Branch on East Bridge Street NE, dozens of people of all ages lined up to meet some furry friends.
Since early December, sled dogs from TUN-DRA KENNELS have been touring Kent District Library locations to give people the chance to ask questions about sled dogs, mushing, the Iditarod sled dog race in Alaska, and more.
A young man named Lachlan was among the people in the crowd, and he said he had a blast meeting the team.
“I thought they were pretty cool, and they’re all huskies, and huskies are my second favorite dog,” Lachlan said, noting that his all-time favorite dog is the German Shepherd.
“I just like getting to meet new dogs, because I used to have some dogs.”
People will have two more opportunities to visit the sled dogs. TUN-DRA KENNELS will be at KDL’s Englehardt Branch on N. Monroe Street in Lowell from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15. They’ll also be at KDL’s Spencer Township Branch on Meddler Avenue in Gowen from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 18. People of all ages are welcome to come out.
