Audubon and Haddonfield students join forces for ‘inclusion revolution’

Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center is lowering adoption fees for dogs through the weekend in the hope of ending the overcrowding at the facility’s kennels.
“This crisis could not be more dire, as there are more dogs in need on the way with no space to house them,” adoption center management said in a media release.
Through Sunday, June 1, the South Jersey group is to reduce dog adoption fees to just $1, excluding small dogs and puppies.
Homeward Bound is an open-admission animal shelter, meaning they must accept all animals in need in the 13 Camden County municipalities they service, including the City of Camden.
According to the media release, dog intake for 2025 is up 47% compared to the same time period in 2022 as families in the surrounding communities have had to surrender their pets after falling on hard times.
Pop-up crates have been set up in hallways and offices to accommodate the continuous flow of dogs into the shelter.
Shelter staff is asking for adopters and foster parents for dogs in need, especially some of Homeward Bound’s longest residents who are most at risk.
