‘Worst I have ever seen’: Yorktown cops remove malnourished dogs from filthy home

YORKTOWN, Ind. — A Yorktown police officer called a home on River Road “the worst I have ever seen” reporting trash, feces and filth piled so high he couldn’t see the floor and a smell so overpowering “it would make you want to throw up.”

According to court documents, Yorktown police officers were led to the home in the 6800 block of W. River Road on Wednesday while investigating reports of a burglary.

Police were called by a victim early Wednesday who told responding officers that a contractor had allegedly stolen items from his property overnight. Police ended up speaking to Quentin Aguirre, 28, of Yorktown about the burglary.

According to police, Aguirre admitted to breaking into the victim’s home overnight and stealing property including drill bits and blades.

Police ended up going to Aguirre’s home on River Road where they ended up discovering the filthy state of the home.

Inside the home were six dogs who were reportedly malnourished in appearance with one dog’s hair falling out, according to the officers. Police said no water or food bowls were found in the home.

Police said the state of the home was so deplorable that officers “had to take breaks due to the smell.”

According to the police report, the health department told officers that due to the horrid state of the home, the department would be condemning the property.

Aguirre faces preliminary felony charges of burglary and theft as well as animal abandonment misdemeanor charges.

Court records show Aguirre has been arrested for drug charges in the past including being sentenced to a year of probation in 2020 on a felony drug charge.
