ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Roanoke’s Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection is urging a woman who dumped several dogs Sunday night to come forward.
The shelter says the dogs were dropped off Sunday night at 10:30 by a woman in a U-Haul van, and reminds the public that abandonment of an animal is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
The shelter says, “Please help us resolve this issue without legal action by simply coming in to sign some additional paperwork.”
The shelter also reminds the public: “We take in owner-surrendered animals by appointment. Taking in 5 large puppies without an appointment, on a 10-day stray hold, puts 5 other dogs at risk. If you’re at the point where you feel dumping your animals is your only option, please call us first.”
Anyone with information on these dogs or their owner(s) is asked to call (540) 344-4922.
