Meet Ripley and Creature — two adorable little dogs who love nothing more than spending time at home with their mom, Mykie. And the feeling is most certainly mutual.
“They’re my world,” Mykie told The Dodo. “Watching them just exist, think, play and communicate is my favorite method of practicing mindfulness.”
A few months back, Mykie’s observations of Ripley and Creature led to her making an adorable realization.

In the years that Mykie and her dogs have been a family, she’s followed the same feeding routine — filling their respective bowls with food at the same time, placing them in the same spot on the floor each time, and then giving them the OK to begin chowing down.
What Mykie hadn’t realized was that Ripley and Creature had developed their own mealtime routine, known just to them. It had been playing out daily right under their mom’s nose.
Here’s Mykie explaining her discovery:
What had seemed like random jostling among the pups was actually some thoughtful choreography. And now their secret had been revealed.
“I had always noticed they circle around me like little sharks when I prepare their food, but I assumed it was pure chaos,” Mykie said. “The moment I realized there was a method to their madness, I couldn’t stop laughing.”

Mykie was impressed to have made this discovery, proving that there is some adorable logic behind her dogs’ movements when she feeds them. But to her, it’s not quite earth shattering.
“I can’t say I’m too surprised,” Mykie said. “They’re very smart, and I’d bet most of their waking life is spent thinking about mealtime. So it all adds up.”
