Woman tries to film “cute” video from doggy day care, captures this instead

A dog owner trying to capture the sweet moment of collecting her dog from day care has shared how she accidentally captured something else—the center telling her that her pup wasn’t as well-behaved as she had hoped.

Lia White, of Charleston, South Carolina, filmed the pickup moment and shared it on TikTok, where it has been viewed over 2.2 million times since May 8. In the text overlay, White wrote: “POV [Point of view]: You were trying to get a cute video of picking up your dog from day care, but you got this instead.” The video featured a conversation between White and a day care worker about Blake, her 1-year-old Dalmatian and goldendoodle mix.

“She was a little bit a lot today,” the day care worker said in the clip, adding that they had to put Blake by herself. “She was instigating with other dogs… Some of them didn’t want to play back with her and she kinda just kept going…. It was getting to the point where it was going to start stuff.”

Blake had been attending doggy day care for six months, and her owner wasn’t expecting the report. “I was shocked; she normally does really well at day care,” White told Newsweek.

As of 2024, 63 percent of U.S. households have pets, so it is little surprise that the pet day care market is set for a boom, according to experts. HTF Market Intelligence says the market is estimated to increase by $2.27 billion by 2030.

Pet day care is a popular option for owners who have work or other commitments, providing somewhere for pets to be cared for while getting exercise and socialization.

As the service has increased in popularity, high-end pet day care facilities have even started to offer luxury services, such as spa treatments, gourmet meals, and personalized care packages for the animals.

In the comments, people shared their reactions to the doggy day care interaction.

“They tell you that like it’s a child and you’re gonna go home and have a conversation with her about her behavior,” Sam wrote.

Hazel posted: “My dog got kicked out of doggy day care. I was so humiliated.”

Others had similar experiences with their dogs getting less-than-glowing day care reports. Jmckcor commented: “My dogs report card was always straight Fs.”

Viewer coloronthewalls added: “My dog didn’t make it through the test run for doggy day care.”

White was pleased that people resonated with the moment and said: “I was inspired to share because I think it’s important to be authentic about the good and bad on my platforms.”

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
