Woman struck and killed walking her dog in Dale City

A 57-year-old Dale City woman walking her dog Thursday morning was struck by a car that drove up on the sidewalk, police said.

Officers responded to Mapledale Drive near Miles Court at 6:37 a.m. after the driver of a 2020 Nissan Versa traveling southbound on Mapledale “left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk,” said Prince William County Master Officer Renee Carr said in a release.

The car then struck 57-year-old Maria Isabel Cardozo, who was walking her dog on the sidewalk. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her dog was later found near her home uninjured, Carr said.

The Nissan’s driver, a 30-year-old Woodbridge man, stayed at the scene. Investigators determined that alcohol and drugs were not factors for the driver, but Carr said charges are pending.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
