Even the coldest heart has well and truly been melted by the adorable bond between a dog and a rescue kitten, who have become the most unlikely of soulmates.
Dog owner and TikToker @jessica._.joyce shared an adorable video of the moment she took her dog to the shelter to adopt a new best friend. But they weren’t there to rescue another dog just like her, however. Rather unexpectedly, it was actually to adopt the kitten “she’s been wanting” to meet for a while.
The sweet video shows how excited the dog looked about meeting her new bestie, before flashing forward to footage of them together in their forever home. The duo didn’t waste any time in forming their unbreakable bond, as they can be seen cuddling up together on the bed and sleeping side by side.
Since it was shared on October 24, the TikTok video has gone viral with more than 784,500 views and over 141,500 likes, as internet users can’t get enough of their loving bond. There’s certainly no animosity between this particular cat and dog, as they’ve put all that aside to become soulmates.

Can Cats and Dogs Really Get Along?
Despite many of us thinking that cats and dogs have a hereditary hatred of one another, the American Kennel Club (AKC) suggests that they can indeed be friends. Dogs can often live harmoniously around cats, especially when they’re introduced to a cat when they’re still a puppy.
It can also be determined by their breed, as non-sporting dogs who aren’t bred to be hunters are more likely to get along with cats. The AKC highlights that bulldogs especially make good companions for cats, as they’re very easy-going and don’t have a hereditary desire to chase things down.
However, certain larger dogs might not be so comfortable living around cats. Hounds are traditionally used to chase game and smaller creatures, so the AKC suggests that cats might trigger their hunting instincts. They are often trained to spot a small animal moving quickly and react, and they might not be able to differentiate between the household cat and a small intruder.

The video showing the dog and cat’s precious bond has delighted the internet, leading to more than 460 comments on the viral TikTok post. There’s been plenty of praise for their unlikely friendship, as many social media users hailed the dog for being so gentle around her new best friend.
One comment reads: “They are bonded. They most definitely look like soulmates.”
Another person wrote: “Stop it!! My heart can’t handle it!”
“I love how she chose that kitty, there was no question,” added one TikToker.
While another TikTok user commented: “Emotional support kitty for the pitty.”
