Woman living with around 10 dogs in vehicle cited after they escape, bite several people

MADISON, Wis. (WISC/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) – A woman who was reportedly living with around ten dogs in a large vehicle was cited after they escaped her care and bit several people.

A woman in Wisconsin has been cited after numerous dogs in her care escaped and bit several people, according to the Madison Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene to find dogs of various breeds and sizes had escaped from a large vehicle parked at a Kwik Trip.

“It was described the dogs had a pack mentality and that they were trying to, you know, essentially protect each other and protect their owner,” Stephanie Fryer, a spokesperson for the police department, said when speaking to WISC.

The woman was reportedly living with about ten dogs in the vehicle.

“You had them chasing after strangers, people that they didn’t know. Again, chasing people inside the store. Chasing them to their vehicles and then in some cases, ultimately biting them,” Fryer told the outlet.

A family member of the woman managed to get the dogs back into the car, but they escaped again.

“That family member was like, please take them to get, you know, care that they need,” Fryer told the outlet.

Authorities had to corral the dogs to transport them to the humane society.

During the incident, a police officer reported being surrounded by eight dogs before being bitten. A paramedic from the Madison Fire Department was also bitten. In total, eight people were bitten.

“In some cases, we know that the bite did break the skin, and others it was just people reporting some bruising,” Fryer told the station.

The process to secure all the dogs took about two hours. Authorities discovered that the same group of dogs is believed to have attacked a Dane County deputy and a Monona police officer in two earlier incidents.

“It sounds like this has been a kind of a repeat problem. The animal control officer, you know, brought up that these dogs have attacked people before in the past,” Fryer told WISC.

The woman received 15 city citations and one referral for a criminal offense. No animal or person was seriously injured in the incident.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
