Woman leaves people in tears as she gives oldest dog in shelter new start

Many people prefer adopting younger dogs, assuming they’ll live longer, but one woman’s decision to adopt the oldest dog at a shelter has melted hearts.

Krissy shared a heartwarming 37-second montage of her senior dog, Jackie Lynn, on TikTok, revealing that creating the video brought her to tears.

Krissy’s post aimed to encourage others to consider adopting older dogs, just like she did. Her video begins with the caption: “Went to the shelter and asked for their oldest dog…and I adopted her”.

She praises Jackie Lynn for being “so well-behaved” during her pre-adoption grooming session. The video then goes on to showcase Jackie Lynn’s life with her new family, featuring her surrounded by toys on her dog bed. The video said: “I’ve never had this many toys before mum”.

Other clips capture her making “funny faces” while sleeping, playing with other dogs in Krissy’s spacious garden, and expressing gratitude for her new home. The clip said: “Wow, I’ve never had such a big yard. I love you mum and my new family”.

The video also highlights Jackie Lynn’s playful side, doing “happy dances” and saying: “This is the real me now I feel safe with you”. To alleviate her arthritis, she enjoys relaxing on a heated bed.

Additionally, she loves basking in the sun with her brother and going on “morning walks” with Krissy. By sharing her journey with Jackie Lynn, Krissy hopes to inspire others to adopt older dogs, proving that age is just a number when it comes to forming a loving bond with a pet.

The footage cut to a blissful scene of Jackie Lynn sprawled out on the bed, with Krissy’s message overlaying: “I can’t believe this is my life now; I feel so loved,” to which Krissy responded with: “We love you, Jackie Lynn”.

Krissy was met with an outpouring of admiration in the comment section, where one user exclaimed: “People who adopt senior pets are absolute angels on earth. You’re an amazing person”.

Another expressed their future aspirations, commenting: “This is so sweet!!! When I’m retired, this is what I will do. I’ll go and get the oldest dogs every time”.

A lady recounted her own poignant tale that resonated with many, racking up 16,000 likes. Her heartfelt confession read: “Did this, he ended up having squamous cell carcinoma. I gave him the best last 4 months I could”.

A touching remark came from someone sharing their recent loss: “My sweet girl who was 12 just crossed the rainbow bridge and she is a spitting image of your sweet girl with the exact same mannerisms. Thank you for giving her a special life from here on out”.

Other remarks included heartfelt thanks and praises such as: “Thank you for giving her the best years yet, I could cry,” “There’s a special place in heaven for people like you,” and “Stop, you’re an angel! This is so precious”.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
