Woman killed in dog attack in Tuscaloosa Co.

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – A 62-year-old woman has died after a dog attack in Tuscaloosa County.

The Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about the attack around 9:20 p.m. July 11. It happened up Highway 69 North close to the Berry community.

Deputies found the woman dead inside a dog pen.

The 911 caller was a family member of the victim who had been contacted by the victim’s husband. The victim’s husband tried to call her and couldn’t make contact. He asked that the complainant to go check on her. When the complainant arrived at the home, he found her in the pen and tried to check on her. When he entered the pen, the dog attacked him. He was forced to put the dog down.

The animal was a large breed dog and a family pet.

The sheriff’s office says the family had never had issues with it before.
