Woman hospitalized after dog attack in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A woman was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by a dog on Thursday.

It happened at approximately 7:16 p.m. in the area of Along the 700 block of Southwest 14th Terrace in Fort Lauderdale.

According to police, officers responded after receiving reports of a woman being attacked by a canine.

Upon arrival, police said officers found a woman suffering from life threatening injuries.

She was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, according to authorities.

Police said witnesses to the attack tried to help the woman and as a result, the dog was also injured.

Authorities have not said what provoked the attack, who owns the dog, what kind of dog it was or if anyone will be charged.
