Woman, dogs rescued after falling through ice on frozen lake

FLORENCE, Kentucky — A woman was rescued after she fell into a pond while trying to get her dogs in Florence, Kentucky, according to WXIX-19 TV and WLWT-5 TV.

The incident occurred at Rio Grande Circle in Florence around 6:40 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrival, Florence police officers and Boone County Sheriff’s deputies found the woman about 100 feet from shore, both stations reported.

Officers believe the woman was trying to rescue her dogs from the ice when she fell in.

The woman was in the water for about 10 minutes before first responders pulled her and her dogs to safety.

Medics took the woman to an area hospital for evaluation before she was released, both stations reports.

Police said the two dogs also made a full recovery.
