Woman charged with animal cruelty after officers find malnourished dogs

LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) – A woman is facing charges of animal cruelty after officers allegedly find a pair of malnourished dogs outside a home.

On Jan. 2, 2025, Laredo Police and a Laredo Animal Care Services were following up on a potential case of animal cruelty near the 100 block of Center Road.

A LACS Officer stated that he had previously visited the home after a complaint about two black Doberman that had no food, water or shelter.

The officer stated the dogs were so malnourished that they could see the bones through the dogs’ skin.

The owner was informed by the officer about taking the dogs to the vet due to their conditions, but no action was taken.

Police arrested 25-year-old Marisela Nohemi Alvarez and she was taken to the Webb County Jail.
