GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Greene County woman has been charged with animal cruelty after police said 31 dogs were seized from a home on Saturday.
According to a report from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to a home in the 1500 block of Parton Loop at around 6 p.m. on Saturday after receiving a complaint that there were dozens of dogs not being taken care of and that the owner was possibly dead.
When deputies arrived on the scene and looked inside the home, the report says the house “looked to be in disarray” and that no one would answer the door.
The report says deputies then went inside the home with animal control and said it was “unlivable” with dog feces all over the home, which they said was “very hot” despite there being a window A/C unit and a fan blowing. Additionally, deputies said they didn’t see any water or food bowls inside the home.

Animal control took 31 dogs from the home and allowed two dogs to go with family members, according to the report, before code enforcement condemned the home.
The suspect, 50-year-old Polly Ayers, was charged with animal cruelty by animal control.
