Roberts was released on a $1,500 bond.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police arrested a woman on charges relating to cruelty to animals.
According to reports WTOL 11 received from TPD, on April 11, Roberts confined three of her dogs and deprived them of food and water.
Roberts said she was being evicted from a home on 3rd Street in east Toledo and that she left the dogs at that location.
Officers found two adult pit bulls in cages with garbage piled on top of them, hiding them from sight. There was an abundance of feces and urine throughout the entire home and the dogs did not have food or water.
The dogs appeared to have been left there for several days and looked emaciated with visible rib bones, police reports said.
A pit bull puppy was found dead in an upstairs bedroom. The puppy appeared to have starved to death, as its bones were clearly visible.
Two witnesses told police the dogs belonged to Roberts.
Roberts is charged with cruelty to animals – torture, deprive, beat, mutilate, kill, or confined without food or water.
She was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to be in court on April 14 at 9 a.m.
