A woman with ties to Kenner is accused of drowning her dog in an Orlando airport bathroom after being denied a flight. She’s now facing a felony cruelty charge.
KENNER, La. — A woman is facing felony animal cruelty charges after authorities say she intentionally drowned her dog inside an Orlando airport bathroom when she was denied travel with the pet.
According to a newly unsealed arrest affidavit, Alison Agatha Lawrence brought her white miniature schnauzer named Tywinn to Orlando International Airport on Dec. 16, 2024, intending to fly internationally to South America. Surveillance footage showed her at the ticket counter with the dog for about 15 minutes. Police say she was told she lacked the proper documents for international pet travel.
Shortly afterward, investigators say Lawrence entered a nearby women’s bathroom and emerged without the dog. A cleaning staffer later discovered Tywinn’s body in a restroom trash bag, soaked with water and surrounded by pet items. A necropsy later confirmed the cause of death was drowning.
Lawrence, 57, who has ties to multiple names and addresses — including one in Kenner, Louisiana — left the country on a flight to Bogotá, Colombia the same day. Authorities say she booked connecting flights to Ecuador and has not returned to the United States.
The Florida arrest warrant charges Lawrence with aggravated animal cruelty, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison. The Orlando Police Department said efforts were underway to pursue extradition. She was arrested and charged on March 18.
Officials described the act as both intentional and inhumane, emphasizing that ethical alternatives to surrender or rehoming were available.
