With frigid temperatures in the forecast comes a warning about the dangers of waterways that are not completely frozen.
Gloucester Township police said a woman was rescued Sunday afternoon after she and her two dogs fell through ice on Timber Creek.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to Timber Creek Dog Park on Chews Landing Road around 1:45 p.m. and used special equipment to rescue the woman and the dogs, who were partially submerged in freezing water about 35 feet from the shoreline, police said.
The woman, whose age was not revealed, was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where her condition Sunday night was unavailable.
Police did not say where the dogs were taken.
Gloucester Township police issued a warning to use extreme caution near frozen bodies of water, saying “changing temperatures can create unpredictable and unsafe ice conditions.”
