LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. (CBS12) — The wife of a man previously accused of neglecting a yorkie, which led to its death, has been arrested after new information revealed that another dog died in their care, thanks to a report from her brother-in-law.
The Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control (PBACC) said that on January 6, PBACC received a complaint regarding four dogs and two pigs living in dire conditions at a home on Temple Boulevard in Loxahatchee. According to reports, the animals had been without electricity and running water since December 28, 2024.
Responding officers reported meeting with Kate, 42, and Jason Faroni, 39, who claimed they visited the home daily to care for the animals. However, officials said that Faroni’s brother-in-law, who made the initial complaint, stated that the couple had not been home since the power was shut off.
The probable cause affidavit states that upon inspecting the property, officers posted a 24-hour abandonment notice and returned the next day, January 7. In the backyard, they found two pigs; one was noticeably thin while the other appeared healthier. Neither pig had food, and the only available water was dirty.
Further investigation revealed that the electricity was disconnected due to non-payment.

PBACC said that on January 15, Faroni’s brother contacted PBACC again, reporting a dead dog inside the home.
When officers entered, they reported finding Baby, a 12-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, in a small crate covered in dried feces and lacking food and water. A necropsy later determined that Baby had died from starvation and dehydration days or weeks earlier.
Officers also discovered Sig, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, in a crate overwhelmed by urine and feces, and a Rottweiler named Ruger, who was found in similar distress.
The report states that in addition, a brindle boxer named Mossy was found extremely underweight and lying in a pile of feces, unable to move. Tragically, Mossy died while en route to veterinary care. Examination revealed severe dehydration, malnutrition, and the presence of hookworms.
In total, Faroni faces two counts of animal cruelty resulting in death and two counts of failing to provide sufficient food and water for the animals.
Her husband was previously arrested on January 15, for the same case, accused of aggravated animal cruelty, six counts of unnecessary overload and deprivation of care, and four counts of impounding animals without sufficient food or water.
