Where To Find The Best Coney Island Hot Dogs NOT in New York

There are those who love hot dogs and those who simply just lack the refined taste to do so. That quote is probably from someone famous or perhaps just made up, but the fact of the matter is that hot dogs are a universal language here in the United States.

For those of you new to the show, hi! I’m BJ and I absolutely love to find the best hot dogs around. I’ve had pretty much all the ones I can find around the Capital Region in New York and I’ve started to venture out into the rest of the world to see who else is bringing a strong hot dog game to the table.

Now, I will stop you right here if you’re going to comment on our social media channels that you hate hot dogs. This content is not for you. So move along.

I recently did a little weekend getaway in Massachusetts with my lovely partner where we spent a few days in Salem, MA. It’s one of our favorite spots. As we prepared to head back to Albany, NY I found this place called George’s Coney Island Hot Dogs in Worcester, MA. I knew right away that we needed to make a stop here since it’s been open for over 100 years.

The whole place is a fantastic trip back to a simple time. Fans of Troy’s Famous Lunch will love the style of sets that this place has. It reminds me of an old school diner or lunch place from the 40s and 50s. The giant neon sign that greets you as you pull up is a local landmark that just recently got an upgrade to make sure it stays glowing for visitors for years to come.

I had to get a couple of their dogs with the works. to see how they compared to my favorite spots in the Capital Region. You all know my loyalty to Hot Dog Charlie’s, but this place may have kicked it up a notch. The works is still mustard, chili sauce and onions, but their chili was insanely good. They also grill their dogs and you can really taste the char on them, which is a totally different style than most hot dog places I’ve been to.

Bonus! They serve Polar Soda exclusively there since Polar Park and Polar Beverages are are right there in Worcester, MA as well. I have to say, I wish more places served local beverages like this because Polar just hits different than a Coke or Pepsi.

In the past many of us would maker a pitstop at Chik-fil-A along the Mass pike for a bite to eat. Since there are so many of those in the Capital Region I would totally recommend hitting up George’s instead if you’re heading out to Boston or another part of the Massachusetts coast.

The drive isn’t so bad at just a little over 2 hours. I’d do it on a Sunday to try these dogs again.

The Capital Region’s 10 Best Hot Dogs [RANKED]

It is a food that seems so simple to make, but yet, the best of the best just cannot be recreated. When it comes hot dogs, buns, and the best combinations of toppings, these are the tops in greater Albany.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
