When FX drama ‘The Beauty’ filmed in Rockland, Walter’s Hot Dogs was there

The new FX drama “The Beauty” recently filmed in Pearl River and one Westchester food truck was on set serving the cast and crew its famous hot dogs.

Walter’s Hot Dogs, whose Mamaroneck location just celebrated 105 years in business this past August, served actor Evan Peters, among others, its split-down-the-middle griddled franks on set in late January. Walter’s also has a location in White Plains, which it opened in 2018. This year also marks the company’s 10 years of having food trucks; there are now four in New York and one in Connecticut.

According to co-owner Gene Christian Baca, he and his team were “grateful for the experience and even happier they all loved Walter’s.”

Walter's Hot Dogs now has three food trucks.

“The Beauty,” created by writer and director Ryan Murphy, is a series based on comic books by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley that explore society’s obsession with outward beauty. Along with Peters, it also stars Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope and Ashton Kutcher. According to a report by Deadline, the 11-episode first series should be available in November.

Walter’s has long been a Westchester institution winning numerous accolades including the number one hot dog in the country, according to Gourmet Magazine in 2001. Other notable call-outs include a 2016 “Chef Pick” from the Food Network, best hot dogs in the U.S. from The Daily Meal in 2017, and, more recently, a top-rated listing by Google for most searched hot dog shops across the country.

In 2021, the Wall Street Journal listed Walter’s as part of its “Best Hot Dog Joint in Every State” story. Walter’s was also named a top restaurant by Eater in 2022 and a “best restaurant” by The Infatuation in 2023.

Since Baca and Katharine Warrington DeCicco took over in December 2013 and March 2014, respectively, running the business with their mom and older sister, it has grown to include the food trucks that have become popular on movie and television sets as an alternative to traditional craft services options.

Some of the other shows Walter’s has served include “A Complete Unknown,” “The Fabelmans,” “Blue Bloods,” “Law & Order,” “Billions,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “The Equalizer,” “Genie” and “God Friended Me.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
