A dog owner from Italy filmed his senior Labrador retriever struggling to walk because of her old age, and internet users cannot stop crying over the viral clip.
The heartbreaking video shared on TikTok on Saturday by @carsneoo, shows the senior yellow pup, Chloe, slowly limping toward her dad, wiggling her tail as she finally manages to reach his leg and rest her head on him.
“I love her so much. (Guys, before asking why I’m with my phone and I don’t pet her, she’s my best friend, I constantly cuddle my puppy, don’t worry. Don’t always look for the negative in everything, love),” says a caption shared with the clip. Newsweek reached out to @carsneoo for comment via TikTok comments. As much as we would all love our furry friends to live forever, unfortunately, dogs have a rather limited time on Earth. How long exactly usually depends on factors such as their breed, size, and general health conditions.
Small breeds, like the Chihuahua, Pomeranian and Yorkshire terrier, usually live the longest, with an average life span between 10 and 15 years, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).
Medium-sized dogs, like the Australian shepherd, bulldog, and whippet, live on average 10 to 15 years, while large and giant breeds, such as the rottweiler, Akita and Great Dane, can live as little as 8 to 12 years, in general.
For this reason, our pups are also considered old much earlier than humans. Big dogs are usually classified as seniors when they reach the age of 6, while smaller dogs are considered old when their age reaches 7 to 10 years.
Signs of aging in dogs include cloudy eyes or difficulty seeing; horrible smelling breath; new lumps and bumps; incontinence issues; changes in weight; and increased struggles moving around.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 11.1 million views and more than 3.6 million likes on the platform.
One user, urfav.kate.xoxo, commented: “Seeing your dog get old is the worst pain ever. I can remember watch my childhood dog slowly get worse and worse it’s so heartbreaking.”
User telltheangelsno posted: “I love old dogs so much, I always snuggle them knowing when their time is over so I always try to give them the best life.”
