Three dogs have been quarantined and a child hospitalized after the dogs bit a child in Waupun on Friday night.
Waupun Police, Waupun Emergency Responders and LifeStar Ambulance all responded to the 200 block of Fond du Lac Street at 6:15 p.m. for a report of three dogs attacking a child, Waupun Police Chief Jeremy Rasch said in a statement.
The 6-year-old child was transported to a medical facility for the severe injuries suffered in the attack, Rasch said.
Two adults also were injured by the dogs, he said.
The child’s father, a 34-year-old man, was bitten when attempting to stop the dogs from attacking his child and he also received medical attention.
An assisting neighbor, a 36-year-old man, also attempted to physically remove the dogs from the child.

The owner of the dogs, a 42-year-old woman, was able to secure the dogs in the house, Rasch said. Police ordered the owner to quarantine the dogs at an approved secure facility outside the city of Waupun.
The dog owner is being issued numerous ordinance citations for animals at large, failure to license dog, and rabies control. Criminal charges are being reviewed for a referral to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office. The dog owner is also civilly liable for any damages, Rasch said, who added that the incident remains under investigation.
“We hope for a speedy recovery of the victims,” he said.
