When Niall Harbison hit rock bottom, he decided the only way was up. After narrowly surviving a battle with alcoholism, he began using his time to feed malnourished dogs on the streets of Koh Samui, Thailand. That kindness snowballed into a worldwide initiative.

“When I got out of hospital, I actually just started feeding one dog, two dogs, literally on a very small scale,” said Harbison. “It quickly grew then to a stage where I was feeding 80 or a hundred street dogs myself. And we now actually feed 1,200 every single day with fresh food, but we also rescue dogs.”

The plight of one dog in particular struck a chord.

“One day I came across a beautiful dog, Tina,” he said. “She was on a chain. She wasn’t beautiful when I first saw her. She was chained up. She’d been used for breeding, terribly malnourished, and she was close to death. So she kind of reminded me of myself, and I rescued her.”

During her treatment, Tina and Niall struck up a special friendship. Unfortunately, she only survived for six more months due to issues with her kidneys that couldn’t be resolved. However, in their short time together, Tina inspired Niall to scale up his mission. The dog sanctuary he created in Thailand is now part of a worldwide effort to feed, treat, and rehouse stray dogs.

Plans are also underway to build Tina’s Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility to treat and save Thailand’s most vulnerable street dogs.

Saving one abused dog at a time in Thailand

Following the loss of his rescue dog, a sweet golden retriever named after the legendary Tina Turner, Niall Harbison set out on a personal mission: to rescue and rehabilitate abused street dogs in his adopted country of Thailand.

“She inspired me to go on and do wonderful work in her name,” said Harbison. “We’re building a hospital, we sterilize, which is neutering or spaying, 7,000 dogs every single month. And we obviously rehabilitate more dogs. So a lot of that has been done in Tina’s name.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
