Watch: Man rescued from burning home, two dogs saved by firefighters

A Guthrie man was rushed to an Oklahoma City hospital after being rescued from his burning home Monday night.

Firefighters from the Guthrie Fire Department and Sooner Volunteer Fire Department responded to the structure fire in the 1500 block of Ken Dr., south of Industrial Road, around 5:45 p.m.

Crews arrived to find the home engulfed in smoke and flames. After extinguishing the fire in the front room, firefighters navigated the smoke-filled interior, locating the man and quickly bringing him to safety. The older gentleman was alert and responsive as he was rushed into an ambulance and transported for medical care.

Tragically, two of the man’s four dogs perished in the fire. However, heroic efforts by firefighters and Logan County deputies saved two others. Emergency responders performed CPR on the animals and supplied oxygen, bringing them back to live.

Firefighters battled the flames for approximately 60 minutes, enduring frigid conditions with temperatures in the lower 20s and a wind chill of 12 degrees. Crews had to break windows and cut a hole in the roof to fully extinguish the fire.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
