HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Dramatic body camera footage released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies rescuing a family and their dogs from floodwaters left behind by Hurricane Milton.
The video captured Friday shows deputies arriving at the home, where the family can be seen standing on their porch with their belongings packed into garbage bags.

As floodwaters continued to rise, deputies prioritized not only the safety of the residents but also their pets, ensuring that the family’s dogs were included in the rescue operation.
“Deputies were out in full force to help residents, including our furry friends, get to safety,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
In the footage, deputies assist the family, one by one, into a SHERP, an amphibious utility task vehicle designed to navigate the dangerous floodwaters. The family’s dogs were carefully lifted into the vehicle alongside their owners.
As of Saturday afternoon, more than 1.3 million Florida residents remained without power, including more than half of Hillsborough County, according to outage trackers. Rescue operations and recovery efforts are ongoing across the region.
