A dog making friends with a deer in footage that could have been taken from a Disney movie has moved the internet.
Nevin Thorpe, 42,(R/ Greengormandizing) from North Carolina was at home when he saw his blue mottled heeler chasing a deer around his backyard. To his surprise, the deer came back to call for his pooch the next day and he shared the footage, which garnered 16,000 upticks on Reddit.
“The deer came up to the stairs off our porch and waited for my dog to come down then they took off running,” Thorpe told Newsweek.
“The deer up here have a great life and are constantly walking through our yard. V has chased them all for a year so I figured this deer was chased and wanted to chase back.
“I couldn’t believe it. After we figured the deer wasn’t trying to hurt V, it was amazing to watch. I hope the deer comes back,” said Thorpe.
V is no stranger to wildlife as she lives on 10 acres of land in Brevard, North Carolina, just outside the Pisgah National Forest.
Four videos Thorpe shared with Newsweek show the two animals’ budding friendship. In one clip, V is on the porch and the deer is on the grass below. They seem to test each other out. Then deer and dog chase each other around the garden relentlessly in circles.
“I think it’s cute… I don’t know though,” Thorpe can be heard saying.
Another clip shows the deer returning the following day. The deer gently approaches V as she wags her tail delightedly.
“You came back. What’s up dude?” says Thorpe. “Are you guys friends now?” And here we go for another round of chasing!
Redditers were left moved by the sweet interaction.

“This morning I saw a young squirrel and a young rabbit playing together. I sat and watched for a while. So cute,” BettinaVanSise said.
