MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. (WALA) – The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said they rescued a yorkie from a hot vehicle.

On Saturday, May 31, deputies responded to Scenic Gulf Drive after receiving multiple reports about a small dog that had been in a car for about an hour, according to authorities.
Deputies said they arrived and saw a yorkie in a car that wasn’t running with the windows slightly cracked.
The deputies were able to open the vehicle using a lock-out kit, pull the dog out, and give it water, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said they called the number on the dogs collar and Andy Matute Villatoro, 26, of Houston, TX showed up a short time later.

Villatoro was placed under arrest and charged with animal cruelty, according to officials.
Deputies said Villatoro was at the beach.
The Walton County Animal Services tested the temperature in the vehicle and said it was 120 degrees.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said if you see a dog trapped in a car, call 911 immediately.
