Authorities are investigating a dog bite Thursday near Wake Forest.
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported dog biting a child around 4:45 p.m. on Pully Town Road.
WRAL News went to the home where the dog bite happened, but the homeowners declined to comment.
The sheriff’s office said Wake County Animal Control was leading the investigation. In Wake County, dogs are required to be on a leash when off an owner’s property except at designated dog parks. Dog owners can be held liable for medical bills and damages if their pet bites someone.
It is unclear what led up to the dog bite, what happened to the dog or the condition of the child.
This is the second dog bite in just as many days in central North Carolina. On Wednesday, a German Shepherd escaped from the back of a car as its owner was trying to give it some water in Rocky Mount and bit a Sam’s Club employee.
WRAL News has reached out to Wake County Animal Control for more information, who said the incident is “still under investigation.”
