Video: Owner Shares List of ‘Silly’ Things Dog Is Scared Of

For all their cuteness, dogs can be incredibly dramatic. They’ll charge headfirst into a pile of leaves, roll in questionable substances, or bark at an empty hallway like they’re protecting the family from ghosts with no hesitation. But then, show them a cucumber or a balloon, and they act like the world is ending. It’s these ridiculous little fears that make pups so endlessly entertaining. Thus, a dog owner decided to document it all in a hilarious video montage capturing the “silly things” that send his Golden Retriever into a full-blown meltdown.

Golden Retriever is scared of ‘silly things’ in funny video

The video starts with a shot of Teddy, the Golden Retriever, sitting calmly, followed by a playful list of “silly things” that somehow terrify the dog. The first item was boxes. The pup was shown perched on the couch next to a cardboard box, sitting stiffly and visibly uncomfortable, as though the box might suddenly move.

Next on the list were statues. In one of the funniest clips of the video, Teddy stood beside a decorative statue, clearly meant to pose for a photo. However, he cast a horrified side-eye at the object instead. The dog’s expression was the perfect blend of fear and confusion, and it’s oddly relatable to anyone who’s ever had second thoughts about a mannequin or sculpture.

The video continued with more examples of Teddy’s unique fears. The wind — more specifically, leaves blowing in it — sent him running for safety. Pool floats were also a no-go. The pup kept a cautious distance from them, unsure of their intentions.

At one point, a costumed mascot held his leash, and the pup’s body language showed an obvious desire to get away from the situation as soon as possible. Finally, the video ended with Teddy staring intensely at a balloon, frozen in place as if it might attack at any moment.

With 2.6 million views and counting, the video has the internet talking. One person commented, “His face while looking at the statue,” followed by a string of laughing emojis. Another joked, “Rightly so, all those things are super SUS. Teddy knows things,” as if the dog had a sixth sense. The comments kept rolling in, with many sharing their own pups’ irrational fears, from ceiling fans to plastic bags.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
