Italian fashion house Valentino is exploring an intimate dream world in its freshly released campaign, where romance and beauty reign supreme.
The maison’s diffusion line is expanding its Vain handbag assortment with a new clutch purse alongside a top-handle silhouette and oval vanity bag. Now live, the Valentino Garavani Vain advertisement was conceived by creative director Alessandro Michele and shot by New Zealand-born, London-based photographer Sharna Osborne.
Romantic sensibilities
The imagery employs an analog camera to evoke a shadowy atmosphere in which Italian and Polish model Isabella Pascucci and Rome-based model Vera Lemeléhes pose in various configurations with the Vain handbag line ever present.
Gossamer-thin fabrications alongside polka dot detailing, ruffles, lace patterns and tights add a touch of old-world glamour. Accessories such as oversized hats, transparent gloves and a sheer dotted face covering add a touch of drama.

The evocative imagery with its grainy background and subdued color palette is anchored by the glossy leather of the Vain Shoulder Bag, which primarily appears in the butter and black colorway, although the embroidered floral shoulder bag in blue also makes an appearance. All three handbags feature a dual compartment and antique-brass finishes from the slinky chain strap to the brand’s iconic VLogo closure.
Alongside the boxy Vain Shoulder Bag, the Vain collection now includes a top-handle iteration, which retails for $4,100 and the oval-shaped Vanity Bag, which retails for $3,450. The brand’s latest addition, the Vain Clutch Bag, is listed at $3,100.
Mr. Michele, appointed creative director in March of 2024 (see story), first introduced the Vain lineup in his debut spring/summer 2025 collection for the house entitled Avant les Débuts.
A nostalgic visual language
Under Mr. Michele’s creative stewardship, Valentino has tapped into the past to capture a soft, imaginative world that relies on conceptual storytelling. His vision favors atmosphere and turns to history, quiet rituals and symbolism for an ethereal narrative that carries across campaigns.

As such, the maison’s latest campaign explores womanhood through a romantic lens and can provide an alternative to the pop-infused hyper glamour of Italian fashion house Versace (see story) or the sleek femininity explored by French couture house Alaïa (see story).
Previous campaigns from the maison, such as the Valentino Garavani campaign in May, highlighted the innovative Nellcôte handbag with dedicated imagery that reimagined the bohemian rock culture of the 1970s for the modern world as models basked in various states of repose amidst wildflowers and hula hoops (see story).
In a similar vein, the house’s pre-fall 2025 collection saw a bevy of digital natives, including American actress Sophie Thatcher and American model Amelia Gray Hamlin, embracing stillness and simple pleasures from dribbling a basketball, applying lipstick and indulging in a cone of ice cream on a hot day in a world devoid of tech distractions (see story).
