Valdosta firefighters rescue 2 dogs from burning home

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) -Firefighters with the Valdosta Fire Department (VFD) battled an early morning fire and rescued two dogs from the burning home.

On Friday, Dec.13 at approximately 4:09 a.m., VFD responded to the report of a structure fire in the 800 block of Smithbriar Drive.

Crews arrived to the scene within five minutes to find heavy flames coming from the residence. They were able to bring the fire under control and rescued two canines from the home.

Two occupants were displaced as a result of the fire, but they did not require assistance from the American Red Cross.

The Valdosta Police Department and SGMC Health EMS assisted with on scene operations.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
