Upper Keys animal shelter rescues puppy mill dogs, highlights need for adopters

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – The Upper Keys Humane Society, a no-kill, non-profit shelter that has been rescuing and rehoming animals since 1972, continues to make a difference in the lives of abandoned pets.

The shelter provides food, medical care, and love to unwanted animals until they find their forever homes. Among them is Jigsaw, a terrier-Chihuahua mix found as a stray who now showers visitors with kisses while waiting for adoption.

Local 10’s Animal Advocate Jacey Birch visited the shelter Friday and met Jigsaw, along with eight purebred Shih Tzus recently rescued from puppy mills.

The shelter is urging families to adopt rather than shop when looking to add a furry friend to their home. Click here for more information on how you can help.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
