Although both cats were living on the street, they were part of a castaway critters program.

“Someone left an off-leash pit bull just maul them to death,” said Jessica Walton, the operations manager at the animal rescue.

Winston and Gloria slept in a bed on Market Street.

Walton said that’s where Winston was chased to his death, and Gloria was killed two days later.

“She was sleeping. Knocked off the porch and killed her in her sleep,” resident Brenda Parker said.

News 8 obtained video of both incidents.

In the first video recorded around 4 a.m. Monday, a dog is seen running after Winston. A man can also be seen and heard, but it’s unclear what he says.

In the second video, it appears the same man is walking by around midnight Wednesday when a woman could be heard screaming. That’s when he asked if the cat in front of her was hers.

Parker said the screams of her friend woke her, and she saw the remains of Gloria.

“My girlfriend next door came down on the steps. Was too late. She was on the floor dead. I was going to give her CPR. It was too late,” Parker said.

The cats were like family to their neighborhood. Many people would pet and feed them.

Now a memorial lines Parker’s doorstep as she honors her late furry friends.

“It’s tearing me apart. It really is. My heart hurts, and I’m not myself,” she said.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
