Universcience | tour of Cats & Dogs exhibition

Universcience, an organisation that works to make science accessible to all, has announced the upcoming international tour of its acclaimed exhibition Cats & Dogs, which will be open for bookings starting autumn 2026.

This revitalised and enhanced version of the popular show is currently on display at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in Paris until June 2026. The exhibition promises an engaging, interactive, and scientifically informed journey into the physical and emotional lives of our closest animal companions.

Based on the latest research in ethology and animal cognition, Cats & Dogs has garnered over 3 million visitors across six countries, establishing itself as one of Universcience’s most successful travelling exhibitions to date.

Now offered in two flexible formats (300 m² or 600 m²) and fully accessible, this exhibition is ideal for museums and science centres looking for engaging content suitable for families and schools with children aged six and above.

A North American adventure with Imagine

In addition to its international tour, Cats & Dogs has also made its way across North America, thanks to a collaboration with Imagine. Imagine, a creator of engaging visitor experiences that entertain, educate, and inspire, is producing and touring the exhibition for North American venues.

This version, tailored for the local market, brings Universcience’s acclaimed content to a broader audience and continues to prove its popularity. An expanded and updated version of Cats & Dogs will be available in North America from 2026 onwards, and interested venues can contact Imagine for more information.

Imagine has already successfully adapted and toured other Universcience exhibitions in North America, including the food-based exhibition Banquet/FOOD, which drew over 130,000 visitors at the Montreal Science Centre.

Entertainment and education

Visitors are immersed in the world of cats and dogs, organised around three themes: “In Their Skin,” “In Their Heads,” and “In Our Society.” They can measure their speed against animals, interpret animal behaviour, debunk myths, and discover the roles of these pets in therapy and culture.

With interactive games, videos, tactile elements, and sensory scenography, this exhibition offers both entertainment and education. Cats & Dogs is a family-friendly exhibition that combines science, interactivity, and fun to attract a broad audience. Its flexible formats and international track record make it a safe choice for venues worldwide.

Château Chanorier in France calls it “a family-friendly, interactive exhibition accessible to all,” while the Natural History Museum of Marseille in France says it is “very interactive and well-suited to our audiences.” Espace des Sciences in Rennes, France, agrees that it is “An ideal exhibition for families, and the Natural History Museum of Vienna in Austria simply says “Host it at your museum!”

Sophie Lécuyer, curator of the exhibition at Universcience, says:

“With this new version of Cats & Dogs, we’re offering an exhibition that’s both deeply engaging and scientifically rigorous. It’s a tribute to our everyday companions, and a powerful tool for learning and discovery.”

Universcience recently spoke to blooloop about the evolution of immersive planetarium technology.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
