STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two dogs were found outside of Tottenville High School by concerned Staten Islanders on Father’s Day weekend.
Eric Petrov and his friend were parked outside of the school around 3 a.m. Sunday morning when the two pups “popped [up] out of nowhere,” Petrov said.
Without any collar tags or other identification, Petrov brought the pair of pups home with the leashes he found attached to them.
“Both of them were very sweet and in healthy condition, just a little dirty,” Petrov said. “It was as if someone dropped them of because they were no longer puppies and they were growing up, so they were getting hard to take care of.”
It’s not clear at the time of writing if the dogs were abandoned or escaped from their home.

Petrov washed and fed the dogs — a boy and a girl, possibly siblings — before Petrov and his sister, Stacey, brought them to the NYPD’s 123rd Precinct in Tottenville Sunday afternoon.
The Advance/SILive.com spoke to a 123rd Precinct spokesperson, who said that the dogs will remain at the precinct for a little while to see if the owner comes forward to reclaim their furry companions.
If the owner doesn’t appear, the spokesperson said the pair would most likely end up at the Animal Care Centers of NYC. The Staten Island center is located at 3139 Veterans Road West.
The precinct posted a photo of the dogs to their Facebook page asking for assistance in getting information on the pair. At the time of writing, no one commented on the post.
