Two People Hurt, Three Cats, 17 Dogs Die in House Fire

(KNSI) — Two people were hurt, and more than a dozen animals died after a house fire.

The fire happened late Thursday in Kandiyohi County. Someone called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the house near New London. Several fire departments arrived and found two people suffering from smoke inhalation. They were rushed to CentraCare – Paynesville Hospital for treatment.

Later, it was discovered that 17 dogs and three cats were also inside the house. Crews made entry and found all of the animals had died due to smoke inhalation.

The home is considered a total loss. The cause is still under investigation.
