Area firefighters were dispatched to two fires in Shamokin and Kulpmont within 14 minutes of each other on Monday evening.
Two dogs perished in a home at 42 S. 14th St., Kulpmont, that was severely damaged in a blaze that appeared to have broken out in the kitchen area.
