Two dogs allegedly poisoned, nails placed in driveway of Lancaster County resident

The male Newfoundland dog ultimately died while the Spaniel mix recovered.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Lancaster County police are investigating a complaint of harassment involving two dogs being poisoned.

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, police responded to a home along the 3000 block of Todd Lane in Lancaster for harassment against the owner’s dogs and nails found in their driveway.

The complaint advised that on the morning of Sept. 25, they left their two dogs- a Newfoundland and a Spaniel mix- out in the fenced-in backyard. While the dogs were outside, the complainant noticed them along the fence line eating something.

They went to check on the dogs and determined they were eating a “frozen chunk” of an unknown substance. The dogs were then brought inside, where they became lethargic and began vomiting.

The owner reportedly immediately took the dogs to a veterinarian. The male Newfoundland dog ultimately died while the Spaniel mix recovered.

The veterinary clinic was unable to conclusively determine what substances the dogs had consumed.

When the complainant arrived home later in the day on Sept. 25, they allegedly found nails scattered on their driveway. There was another incident on Sept. 10, which was also reported to police, involving nails on the complainant’s driveway.

There are no suspects at this time and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Officer Jordan Geisler at 717-898-3103.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
