MANCHESTER — Authorities say they are looking for the person who tied two dogs to the pole of a basketball hoop on Cottage Street and left them out in the rain Saturday.
In a series of Facebook posts Saturday, Manchester Animal Control said they found the two dogs abandoned in the 20 block of Cottage Street. Officials said the animals were discovered around 10 a.m.
Photos posted on Facebook show the dogs standing in puddles of rainwater with their leashes wrapped around the hoop. A police spokesperson said the animals did not require medical attention and are currently being housed at a local shelter.
Animal control officials said they reviewed video footage showing an individual in a red hoodie walking the two dogs around 8 p.m. Friday on the corner of Maple and Spruce streets, a location less than a half-mile from the basketball court where the dogs were found.
Officials described the subject as a young black male with short hair and said they were last seen walking south on Spruce Street toward Charter Oak Park. They are asking anyone with private cameras in the surroundings areas to check their footage for signs of the subject and the two dogs between 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities asked anyone with information about the dogs to call Manchester Animal Control at 860-645-5516.
