TULSA, Okla. — Linda Clark says being invited to judge the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is proof that dreams come true.
“I was ecstatic that I was one. It’s always been one of my dreams,” said Clark.
Clark has always loved dogs. Her career in dog shows began when she was 18-years-old and rescued a sheltie.
“Found out through the grapevine she was a show dog at one time. I did all the research and got really interested in showing dogs,” said Clark.
So she got into the world of dog shows and was a professional dog handler for more than 30 years, even winning the Hound Group at Westminster Dog Show in 2002.
Clark kept her local ties. While her career as a dog handler was taking off she opened Woodland West Pet Resort in Tulsa. A place to board and train dogs.
After years of building a reputation as a dog handler, she began judging in 2011.
Now, she travels all over the world as a dog show judge. She says being selected to judge the Westminster Dog Show is a special accomplishment for her.
“Everything I’ve done has led up to this point. The knowledge and recognition has led to this and I’m very passionate about what I do,” said Clark.
The 149th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show kicks off on Feb. 8 in Manhattan.
