HERKIMER, N.Y. — The New York State Police announced the arrest of two people on animal cruelty charges.
Troopers arrested Joseph A. Warney, 30 and Emma E. Trask, 44. Both are from Utica. They are facing two counts of failure to provide proper sustenance, two counts of neglect of an impounded animal and two counts of disposal of dead animals.
On March 27, State Police were called to assist the Herkimer County Humane Society with an animal welfare complaint at an apartment on State Route 5 in Herkimer, N.Y.
Troopers found two dead dogs in crates. The apartment was abandoned. Warney and Trask were the owners of the dogs, police said.
The two suspects are scheduled to appear in the Town of Herkimer Court on May 13.
The investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
