TOOELE — A Tooele man was charged Wednesday with shooting and killing two dogs in his home while under the influence of drugs.
Marcus Michael Fritz, 32, is charged in 3rd District Court with two counts of being a restricted person in possession of a gun, a third-degree felony; plus two counts of aggravated cruelty to an animal and reckless endangerment, class A misdemeanors.
On April 5, a woman called police to report that Fritz was high on LSD and had shot two dogs in their home.
“(She) said Mr. Fritz was acting abnormally due to the drugs he had ingested. Phone contact was made with Mr. Fritz, and he asked if this was really happening. When he was asked about his dogs, Mr. Fritz started crying,” according to a police booking affidavit.
Police arrived at the home and arrested Fritz without incident. Inside, officers seized a handgun and a shotgun and a total of nine casings, and found what police described as two “large dogs” that were deceased, the affidavit states.
“Throughout the home, officers also located what appeared to be several bullet-sized holes in the floor and ceiling,” the affidavit says.
