WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Three severely neglected pit bulls were discovered in a West Palm Beach home, leading to the arrest of a woman for animal cruelty on Friday.
The investigation began on January 17, 2023, when Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control (PBCACC) received a complaint of one dog and two puppies abandoned at a home at 717 50th Street in West Palm Beach.
When the PBCACC officer arrived at the scene she witnessed Missy Mae McBride in the process of being evicted. Inside, the animal control officer discovered three pit bulls in bad condition. The dogs, identified as Tank, Miss Ma’am, and Butcher, were found in a back bedroom filled with feces and trash, according to the details written in the arrest affidavit.
According to the arrest affidavit, Tank, a 4-month-old blue and white male pit bull, was very thin with prominent ribs and hips. Miss Ma’am, a 4-month-old blue and white female pit bull, was also underweight with visible ribs and hips and suffering from a cherry eye. Butcher, a 6-year-old blue and white male pit bull, was severely emaciated with muscle wasting and dehydration.

McBride told the investigators that the dogs had not been fed for over a week. A veterinarian who examined the dogs confirmed that all three were underweight due to inadequate food and water. Butcher’s condition was particularly severe, indicating prolonged neglect, according to the arrest report.
Following the investigation, the Riviera Beach Police Department arrested McBride, and the 26-year-old was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail for three counts of animal cruelty.
