Three people are facing charges after an officer was injured in Glassport Saturday afternoon. Glassport police Chief Shawn Deverse told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that an officer was bitten by a dog while investigating a matter in the 600 block of Cherry Way just before 4 p.m. Deverse said body camera footage appeared to show the officer and the dog’s owner speaking to one another regarding an investigation when the dog broke loose from its leash and attacked the officer. While the dog attacked the officer, the chief said, the officer fired one gunshot at the dog. The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The dog was later taken to a vet in Monroeville for treatment. Deverse said three people, including the two owners of the dog and a friend, have been charged after they were said to have threatened officers on scene.
