This new H&M handbag looks just like The Row’s £4,000 Margaux bag

If you ask any A-lister for their favourite designer brand, you can bet they’d list The Row pretty quickly. Founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in 2006, it’s become a celebrity go-to for elevated basics with the sharpest of tailoring, more often than not in the brand’s signature neutral palette.

But that’s not all the ready-to-wear brand excels at. Their range of handbags are the epitome of quiet luxury, with understated designs made from the supplest of calf leathers.

Of course, they don’t come cheap. The Margaux – a favourite of everyone from Kendall Jenner to Margot Robbie – will set you back around £4,000. Sure, it’s an investment piece, but even with that in mind it’s quite considerably out of our price range.

If that’s the case for you too, then listen up. While scrolling H&M’s new-in section, we stumbled across a new bag that quite honestly is indistinguishable from The Row’s sought-after Margaux.

The shopper-inspired bag is a roomy, structured tote with the same short handles and curved edges as its top-end doppelgänger. The luxe style is finished with two thick, adjustable straps on either side, which, when secured, give the exact same slouchy effect you get with the Margaux.

£42.99, H&M

H&M’s version is made from faux leather rather than the real deal, which is worth keeping in mind, particularly when it comes to shopping sustainably. But there’s still that quiet luxury feel feel – there are even metal studs on the bottom to prevent scuffing, which always makes an accessory look that bit more expensive. The real difference is the price, with the high street version coming in at £42.99, or £3,957 cheaper than the real deal.

Want more good news? It’s not the only Margaux-inspired accessory you can currently pick up on your local high street. M&S’s £39.50 Faux Leather Briefcase Bag is giving similar ‘The Row’ energy, with its sleek finish and curved top.

Rather than the hook-and-eye fastening on the designer version, M&S’s has a gold zip for extra security, as well as an inside compartment to keep your valuables safe (probably because us normal people don’t have a security entourage to stop people stealing our stuff).

£39.50, M&S

We’ll be honest: both of these high-street totes are chic enough to fool us into thinking they’re designer. Shop your favourite sharpish – we reckon both will sell out in no time.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
